From the 2025 campaign, Italian plums can be exported to Brazil again

After a long process, which required the submission of dossiers and information, and thanks to constant efforts, including on the ministerial side, the approval of the protocol allowing Italian companies to once again export plums of both varieties (Prunus domestica and Prunus salicina) to Brazil is official. This is announced with satisfaction by CSO Italy, which with its international relations office made a decisive contribution to the successful conclusion of the protocol, actively participating in all stages of the process, including the decisive inspection visit that took place in the last week of September 2024.

On this occasion, the two Brazilian inspectors had had the opportunity to see the great professionalism of the companies visited, the operators and the regional phytosanitary services both in the orchards and in the plants in putting in place, with the coordination of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, also the specific measures that ensure the absence of the organism Lobesia botrana, considered harmful in Brazil.

The inspectors particularly appreciated the synergy and collaboration between the public and private sectors, including the organization and coordination of the visit by CSO Italy, which allowed them to see our production system with its controls in a very transparent way.

“Already at the end of the visit,” comments Simona Rubbi, head of CSO Italy's international dossiers practice, "the inspectors had spoken very favorably with the intention of reopening trade flows from the next marketing year, and they kept their word.
